01DefinitionEthereum Foundation / Decentralized Identity Foundation

A cryptographic authentication standard allowing users to control their identity using Ethereum private keys.

01 / CANONICAL DEFINITION

What it means.

Sign-In with Ethereum (SIWE) describes how Ethereum accounts authenticate with traditional web services by cryptographically signing a structured plaintext message containing domain, nonce, timestamp, and statement parameters.

02 / ROLE IN TRUSTEDTRUCKS

Where it is used.

Primary enterprise authentication protocol for PT-0 governance signers, board members, and executive officers in the Command Centre, guaranteeing passwordless, hardware-backed identity verification.

03 / TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION

EIP-4361 message specification validated via eth_sign / personal_sign, recovering the public key and verifying against the registered Azure Key Vault HSM or Ledger hardware signer.

04 / WHAT IT MUST NOT IMPLY

Read it carefully.
